of the cold drift unexpected

It snowed in London, and the delays and cancellations were but of course EPIC. London needs to learn and adhere to the Boy Scout motto - the previous and the current one. It didn't snow out here, but it did in New Orleans and Houston. It was icy cold, Lord knows like London I wasn't so prepared. I was closer tho. Last Saturday was really cold, my hoodie helped out. I had ordered a blanket the previous week. I am really just slipping into new place, new culture ish... A part of me isn't liking, the cold weather hasn't helped and my room is still a bit unfurnished. I got a table at last and I am working on a room transformation project that I am loving. Thankfully, Pinterest is still amazing. I just finished reading, One S'more summer by Beth Merlin, I loved it. I am looking forward to lots of cups of hot chocolate, tacos and plenty reading for my holiday. Another road trip coming soon, ha! the Bliss traveling brings

of mattresses, new cities and PEAK

I will tell you about PEAK . This is an app I got over a year ago that has daily brain exercises you can do. Your girl attained grand master status in one of the games and guess what happened I never got the game to play again well till today... I am so excited i put down my ipod to type this post! It has been a long while, and I also didn't complete the Nigerian Anthem lyrics title posts in October. I am afraid but it will have to be completed another time. I moved cities, countries again. I actually miss London however i currently reside in the sunshine state and I know for a fact today it is snowing in London I don't miss that. I love Miami, I love Miami after Capetown before Cairo. I could live there tho especially with a bit of London infusion however there is no place like London, I am fine with that. I really didn't like my move but I see it as one big adventure so I mentally adapted. It will be crazy, fun, a couple of down time days, many many things and DIS

The labour of our heroes past

Shall never be in vain! I spent a good number of years not singing the first stanza of our anthem, tbh I have struggled with not mixing my lines... Another thing we have struggled and  mixed up too is 'who our real heroes are!' Trust that till we know who our heroes are, till we key into what they have done for us, till we become ardent followers of the path they have carved out... Their labour will be in vain Don't let our the labour of our heroes past be in vain! Do you think a real hero labored so that in the year 2017, our dearly beloved can hardly boast of porthole-free roads...? Speaking of heroes, happy belated 91st birthday to my day one hero, King of the best guys ever, my special bearded one, my gramps. I still run on the path he laid out for us

With love and strength and faith

Serve with love, love breaks walls and strongholds. I am currently loving Ric Hassani's Only you Serve with strength, strength gives hope that tomorrow will be great. I took a bold step, I am embarking on a new adventure in a new place next month. Serve with faith, faith is visionary. Faith turns dreams in your heart to dreams you can touch.

To serve our father land, our mother's too

To serve is not to be selfish, greedy or entirely self focused. It is to help, heal in some cases, to bend, to protect where the need arises, to genuinely care and show concern... To serve is to consider a neighbor's needs too When we serve we do not make room for tribal differences to settle, instead we turn our differences into strengths we need to create solutions for problems that arise  Ps: Real leadership is leaders recognizing that they serve the people that they lead- Pete Hoekstra

Nigerians call Obey, really?

who do you obey? When you drive in the opposite direction on a one way route, who do you obey? When you throw dirt outta your car while driving, who do you obey? When you settle some official to do wrong things, who do you obey? When you falsify your age for official positions, who do you obey?

The start; Arise O'compatriots

The call to action Arise  I once heard a wise man say he is surprised that people say things like 'Nigeria O!' and complain. He said these people forget that Nigeria is a country made up of people - so the people are what makes Nigeria not that Nigeria makes the people. So what we have in the nation is a result of what the people are doing. Sometimes we all forget this simple fact. Arise o'compatriots, we are them who can build the nation Arise no one ever got fidgety when the rewards came in Arise... Be accountable

of the books in no particular order

its a warm saturday morning the sun has pushed most of yesterday's chill away... I am currently re-reading Marian Keyes Under the duvet, {at night}. A book i read in 2008 ... wow almost 9 years ago! On my itouch, i am reading Juliet Ashton's These Days of Ours But while driving home from getting drinks from the supermarket this morning, radio on, Smooth FM's book review started and they were talking about my Book of 2015 The Fishermen by Chigozie Obioma talked about reading and sharing my thoughts here  but i just never got around doing that. The Fishermen was the best book of 2015, true story! When I was done reading it, I had this urge to want to liken the author to China Achebe, but NO! Chigozie's style of writing is so different from Achebe's, although the book is narrated by one of the characters. I will talk about the book in parts. I believe everyone who loves to read should read it too. I just finished reading Freya North 's Turning Point

About the 29th

"Grandma, I took £5 from your change and bought this skirt from M&S" Grandma, hmmm and the skirt is fine, so you didn't buy my own" I wore the skirt the day you'd have been 88 just because... It's the memories that make remembering easier. We were truly blessed to have my grandma, happy birthday G

Life has...

Today I wore a pretty dress, I bought it over a year ago but today I only got the right reason to wear it. I like that...  Life has a way of making us smile Those happy moments Life has a way of making us frown Those memories adorned with tears Life has a way of making us laugh Those round table talks with melting cookies and icecream Life has a way of making us cry Sadness reminds that many things will pass away Life has a way of making us jump Keep striving, don't be stagnant  Life has a way of making us dance Music is food for the soul  Life has a way of making us sit still Ponder, think, plan execute Life has a way of making us roll It's ok to feel the weight on your shoulders and just cry Life has a way of making us run Get set, go... Life has a way of making us scream Do not lose your voice in the process Life has a way of making us sober Life...it has many sides  tbc

lonely hearts dot com

surround yourself with family and friends with family and friends who push you, family and friends who mould you, family and friends who laugh with you who want the best for you and from you. who also can laugh at you because they love you discipline your mind, fill it with good thoughts be hopeful and then be happy happiness is a condition you can be permanently in push worry out, really why worry? Love is real, it is in the little things and big things It is in the planning and talking and making Don't be lonely, it is also a condition if no one loves you, find someone to love then, or a cute pet Don't please don't kill yourself, because... you will wedge a deep dark hole in someone's heart. PS: Oh Chester PS again: I am gradually pushing meat out of my diet and that can be 'one kin' living in Lagos. I made  yam and tofu stir fry. I will work on the recipe further

For Meechy

Image
I am so sad about hearing Meechy Monroe died... I loved her input in the YouTube Natural hair community. When I got to know about her cancer, I would pray for healing. She started getting better and I was glad.  Then suddenly she wasn't getting better again. I didn't stop praying for her healing. I would check her sisters' pages for good news from time to time... Rest well lady, no more pain Rest well Meechy, you never stopped being beautiful I pray your mom is comforted I pray your dad is strengthened I pray your sisters can push thru the sadness  I pray for your family

we never waved goodbye

saying goodbye is always the hardest especially if the goodbye is Michael Jackson's 'this is it' especially when we haven't completed the goodbye stories Goodbye my lady, the shy smiles, the funny 'uhs' the ever ready gift hands were we ready no but that is what death does best snatches a soul, and life never gets to see that body or hear that laugh... still here we are still gone you are we miss you, FOF its been  4 years now, 16th May we still never waved goodbye

those conversations

Ever had a 'crazy' conversation about sex with someone with whom your longest conversation has been 'hi' prior to this said conversation? Sometimes i have played out my day in my head long before i have had a shower and made it to my workplace... not like i know in detail how it will end... but i have sort of planned it out-ish I started my day like a new day - nothing unusual, only good vibes welcomed, happiness is the lane i walk on today I like to say i have a song playing in my head and this morning it was lil mama's Lipgloss I haven't heard that song in yearsssss, as in Y.E.A.R.S! I probably heard it while Carbon was still a thriving club Anyhoo song of the morning and i listen as i head to work... Basically my day was, popping, school girl feel, all the boys keep stopping - until So this said conversation - you know when your mind, head and your inner self are not in unison because your inner self just wants to be carefree, your head well your

creativity street, a street way better than notting hill gate

I have had a my excited heart burst into a thousand butterflies intermittently this past sunday Ayodel Arigbabu's Moremi, directed by Según Adefila is the cause. A musical well written and well performed in the heart of Lagos. I luveet when i see or experience the brilliance of people's creativity!!!! So Ifa has a Facebook account, Esu wears air max and Ogun has 'merchandise' for sale on his website but they still speak in riddles.  A land where the elbow of the Akewe of the Ooni (Ooni=King, i.e. the King's announcer) is at a perfect 45 degree angle when he dabs, and Orunmila's son spits more bars than your current best rapper. Where do i begin this review and not make it seem like I have been paid to favour this beautiful work of art? With the little funds they had, they were able to produce beautifully crafted entertainment. I really hope Moremi is well funded and it goes into one of the really big theatres in Lagos and Ibadan or better still the a

The harmattan and its dust counterpart are to blame for the antisocial mood
